Community Sports Coaching

MK Springers has four Community Sports Coaches

The purpose of the Community Sports Coach role is to bring high quality gymnastics into schools and from there develop School-Club links. Our Community Coaches work with The School Sports Partnership and together we have developed a scheme of work which is being introduced into all the primary schools across Milton Keynes. A Community Coach will spend six weeks or more in a school delivering gymnastics to all the children, from reception class upwards.

We teach all year groups, including foundation. We can coach lessons for PPA cover or CPD. Pupils will be taught a range of skills including rolls, jumps, balances, cartwheels, they will also learn how to adapt these skills onto large apparatus.

PPA cover

Can include completion of gymnastic PE assessments.

CPD

Teachers take an active part in the lesson to help develop their subject knowledge.

We have four coaches who between them provide lessons to over 1,000 children for a six-week block or more. The class teacher remains with the class thus enabling him/her to carry on delivering high quality gymnastics after the coach has left the school.
